Project outcomes
This research and development partnership aims to establish a highly-productive, sustainable, traceable, quality-assured value chain for tropical medium grains (with specific characteristics) in the MD, benefiting rice-farming households and meeting established SunRice market requirements.
For the northern Australian component, the major outcome is a proof of concept of a marker assisted and genomic selection approach (in pre-breeding) to improve breeding efficiency, the development of a tropically adapted long grain variety, and improved agronomic practices (for yield and quality).
